TNRERA has established jurisdiction-based financial penalties for selling plots, flats, or apartments prior to TERA registration:
– Greater Chennai Corporation: Rs. 15,000 per unit
– Chennai Metropolitan Area (exc. GCC): Rs. 10,000 per unit
– Major Municipal Corporations: Rs. 10,000 per unit
– Other Municipal Corporations: Rs. 8,000 per unit
– Municipalities: Rs. 6,000 per unit
– Town Panchayats: Rs. 4,000 per unit
– Village Panchayats: Rs. 3,000 per unit
These penalties, approved in the 35th Authority meeting (28.08.2025), ensure compliance with Section 3 of the RERA Act, 2016.
